ABOUT THE WORK

The three-day program called Image / movement / sound through the format of exhibition, audio-visual performances and workshops examine relations between image, movement and sound in new media art. In her work Vana Gaćina starts the research from traditional forms of art, particularly in the work exhibited on this occasion – Točka (Point), from large dimension collages, which is then layered with new media expressions through which the author of the work also includes the observer. Work Točka (Point) becomes the image that the action of the observer turns to the audio video installation. Activating mapped video and manipulating the speed and the intensity of colour, the observer interacts with the image, making it audio-visual work.

The second day of the program will be marked by an audio-visual performance by Tanja Minarik and Tin Dožića. Compound sound manipulation of Tin Dožića with projections of Tanja Minarik brings a nice and clear poetical live play that indicates experience of the performing team. For the interested public, led by Tanja Minarik and Tin Dožić there will be workshops of audio-visual performance. At the workshop participants will have the opportunity to give the image and sound to the objects found in the street. New images of found items will be formed through microscopes, projectors, overhead projectors etc., which completes the story open with exhibition of Vana Gaćina that indicates the complexity of new media performance.

ABOUT THE AUTHORS

After studying painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb, Vana Gaćina discovered video art and started a Master’s degree study of Video Art at the Academy of Fine Arts in Ljubljana. There she discovered a variety of possibilities to explore a combination of art and technology and began her work on multimedia installations that combine the classical art with modern technology through analogue and digital media.

Tanja Minarik is a multimedia artist, graduated with a Master degree in New Media at the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb. She is a member of ULUPUH, UR Institute, and Radiona Association. In her depictions of fragmented everyday life, she uses various aspects of video art and design – audio / visual performances, installations, interactive installations, animation, editing, and mapping.

Tin Dožić also graduated with the Master of New Media at the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb. In his performances he primarily works with media sound – performances in audiovisual projects. Helped through collaboration with various artists and enthusiasts, Tin Dožić developed his own musical instruments and experiments with the technology. Tanja Minarik and Tin Dožić
are audiovisual team whose collaboration started in the project MMessy Oscillators 2013. Past performances in the form of a duo include performances in the Gallery Greta, ALU Zagreb, and a solo show at the Exhibition Sound of the Institute for Experimental Sound.
