Conflict.

...a short history of war in Yugoslavia for beginners...

Description of the project

Body art project Conflict refers on the countries of the ex Yu in which the epicentre of conflict erupted through bloody developments in the 90-ties. Traces of myths and blood are still among us, the epicentre just moved eastern in geographical sense (problem of defining Bosnia and Herzegovina as one state with two or three entities, problem of Kosovo independence, problem of Macedonia as a virtual state).
We observe ex Yu countries through its cancerogenic grid of borders and myths that are based on the late Middle Age happenings, and also through the ways that myths are transferred into the reality. Reality that produced blood and death.
The project Conflict is a kind of paraphrase on the performance by Marina Abramović ‘Rhythm 10’, importing the knife game from it. In the project Conflict the two performers carry out the same game, but they instead place emphasis on the consciousness of the other one, without a possibility to control his body and his consciousness. Exploring the relationship between power and the lack of power, the project speaks about the knify history of former brothers.
Two performers are playing the knife game according to crucial years of the war in ex Yugoslavia. We are trying to establish difference between aggressor and the victim, trying to show trough game the develop of the war. We are playing on the surfaces on which are projected photographs from war. Surface has shape of the ex Yugoslavia, and it is marked by bones. The beginning is the year when Tito died, 1980. Two performers are coming on the surface and they are dressing themselves in suites. Since the suites are connected with glue, performers are trying to separate one from the other.
The next year is 1991 and beginning of the war….
The aim of the project is to show the paradox of war though simple game that will be questioned in public up to its physical and psychic limits.
We are using ours bodies to show that the political body is literally written in blood.

Konflikt

Konflikt evidentira i alarmira prezentnost postojećeg fenomena.

Autori i peformeri projekta Ritam 20 : Kristijan Al-Droubi (Novi Sad)
Boris Kadin (Dubrovnik).
